The glove material is repurposed and converted into aggregate that can be used in the manufacture of concrete products such as pavers, blocks and concrete slabs.
How GloveCycle Works
The programme has been designed to accommodate businesses using both smaller and larger quantities of Hytec nitrile gloves.
Smaller Volume Users
Smaller-volume customers can collect used gloves in their empty Hytec glove cartons using a specially designed GloveCycle cut-out lid.
Once the carton is full, it is sealed and collection can be arranged with Hygiene Direct.
This means smaller businesses can participate without needing to purchase a dedicated collection bin.
Larger Volume Users
For businesses using larger quantities of nitrile gloves, dedicated Rubbermaid Slim Jim 80L collection bins with clear liners can be positioned around the workplace.
Used eligible gloves are collected separately from other waste and consolidated ready for collection.
For larger-volume programme users, the gloves can be weighed and site-specific reporting provided showing the amount of glove waste diverted from landfill. This can provide valuable information for sustainability initiatives, environmental reporting and workplace waste-reduction programmes.

Important GloveCycle Information
Only eligible Hytec nitrile gloves can be placed into the GloveCycle collection system.
Other glove brands, paper, general rubbish or other materials must not be placed in GloveCycle boxes or bins, as contamination can prevent the collected gloves from being processed.
GloveCycle also does not replace regulated waste-disposal requirements. Gloves that are required to be disposed of through an existing regulated waste stream, such as infectious waste, must continue to be handled using the appropriate disposal method.
