What's the Actual Difference?

2 ply toilet paper is made from two bonded layers of tissue. It's strong, absorbent, and the most common choice for commercial washrooms because it balances comfort with cost-efficiency at high volumes.

3 ply toilet paper adds a third layer, making it noticeably softer and more absorbent — but also more expensive per roll and, in most cases, lower in sheet count per roll for the same roll diameter.

Neither is objectively "better." The right choice depends on where the washroom sits in your business and who's using it.

When 2 Ply Makes Sense

2 ply is the standard commercial choice for most businesses, and for good reason:

  • Lower cost per roll and per use
